One of the best Dubstep tracks I've heard

Actually I'm more into DnB but I like some dubstep aswell ;). This song is just excellent, very well done! The "RAAAAAAAAWR" at 1:37 almost blew me off my chair.

Powerful track indeed! Great job!

mr-jazzman responds:

Yeah I love DnB too, I just recently went on a dubstep binge lol. Thanks for the review, glad you could 'preciate!

Oh well.

Where have I heard this song before? ... Oh, hey! Maybe it's just the fact that 85% of the Trance songs sound EXACTLY like this one?

What I am trying to say, this song lacks creativity. What you've done is basically taking the most typical bass line (which progress through the same 4 notes over and over and over again), added some lead synth which even have a couple notes that are off tune and make head hurt :( and then put some drums and couple of effects and such in it. Don't be afraid of creativity. It's not going to bite you, you know ;).

And about the mastering: as a couple of ppl already mentioned, the bass completely kills the sound at certain parts of the song, which after a while really gets on one's nerves.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but I know you can do much better than this. You have something nice going on in my opinion, but you're not there yet. Don't give up ;D

Cheers

IceMasterDlux responds:

It's dance! Trance is that Tiesto stuff that people listen to while they're high. That's OK, that's another topic for another time! I do agree that the bassline is overused, but does that make this song not good? Not at all. The bassline gets used so much because it's classic, it's cool, and it's what makes so many dance songs awesome. And, if you listened to my other songs, you'd see that I hardly use that bassline these days. My musis is actually quite creative, so no need to worry about that department. The lead synth you said has some off notes? No, it doesn't. Perhaps you have bad speakers or something, but the notes definately aren't off. Also, you said that this song is just a bassline, lead, effects, and drums. Well, no problem there, because that's what every electronic song ever made is! You just phrased it to sound negative. I think I see what you mean about mastering, this one was an experiment in the mastering department. Anyhow, thanks for the review! God bless you, man!

Grr...

You just made me download Chrono Trigger once again. Are you happy now? xD

This song is and will always be epic.

RetributionVox responds:

I am very happy that you got the urge to play CT again. But PIRACY IS TEH CRIEMS.

Good job!

There's not much I can say about it, other than that you need to master it better. The bass completely kills the drums and other sounds at certain times, try to fix that :p nevertheless you've made a great composition :D. Looking forward to
the finished song!

5/5 and 8/10

combatplayer responds:

yeah i kno X_X thanks for a usefull review tho :]

as i wrote.. i made it in the demo so i couldent really go back n change it.
saved it tho so ill change it when i buy the full one (added feature in FL9 Demo)

i generaly hate masterings xD

thanks for nice score and good review :]

Not bad, not excellent

It's relatively good compared to lots of other stuff submitted to this site, but still there is something that keeps bugging me throughout the song. You're using the most standard bass line ever, which probably is the thing that irritates me xD. Please, use something more creative next time, instead of this bass line that is used in 95% of all the Dance/Trance songs out there :Z

Voted 7 and 4 :)

Interesting

This is a quite interesting song you got here :] it's not repetitive at all, changing path every 20th second or something :p it makes it easy to listen to without growing tired of it, imo. I think you should get rid of the Speakonia-vocie in the beginning, though. As someone below me said, it sounds rather cheesy. But overall it's a nice song and it's hearable that you put much effort into this song. Good job ;p

Dr-Slump responds:

Thanks for the compliments, Tiger! Well... I was thinking of having a real vocal for this music, but it would take too long to record etc. So i remembered the shitty, useless speech synthetizer that fl has, and i said to myself:"What the hell? Why not?", and i gave it a shot. And i surprised me. The "aaaaa" part sounds great to me. I agree the voice may be kind of "cheesy" but c'mon... i've compressed it and even added a scratch! That's something, right? ;)

the phoenix makes a comback O_O

I'm quite hyped up, to be honest! It's great to see that you're still alive and creating stuff :O you were my idol when you were making stick animation, I was so influenced by your style at that time... that was many years ago :p I think you're still a great animator, although I haven't seen any new stuff from you for quite some time.

Can't say much about the song, other than that I think you're a very musical person. You clearly know what you're doing when you're making songs. Although, I think you should make the piano sound more realistic, if you get what I mean. If you listen to the piano you hear that all the notes have the same volume. It makes it sound quite stiff. But other than that, this song is very good! Not repetitive at all, and it loops well. Actually, if I would listen to this song with shut eyes, I would be listening for it for three hours, thinking it hadn't restarted yet :P.

This piece is very well-thought out in my opinion. But work on that piano :p, aswell as making it longer! Anyways I think it's great to see you're alive, man :p. I'm not sure you remember me, but I used to hang on your old forums, during 2004-2005. Had the same name as here.

Well, well. Great job doing this! xD

Fr0zEnPh0eNiX responds:

Yeah absolutely I remember you, you were a very supportive guy all and all and I've always appreciated that support very much.

I'll definitely look into dynamics (what you were talking about with the stiffness of the piano).

It's harder to control it with a program, as opposed to actually playing. You see, I actually play piano on occasion and I have a good feel for dinamics, it's just very difficult to emulate, but I will do my best.

Also, it's great to see you're still around =)

Thanks!

This isn't good...

IT'S INHUMANLY GREAT! Woah, very very good job. Normally I'd try to give you constructive critics, but well, I don't know what to give critics on. The only thing I think is wrong, is that you don't got more downloads for this song, than 1300... this song, for me, is as good as e.g ParagonX9's best songs ( that for sure got 10 000 + downloads!). I'll try to advertise this song to friends and such. I mean this song, six and half a minute long track of pure awesomeness, that's something very rare in the AP. That's just my opinion I guess.

However, I really want you to submit something that resembles this song :). Another thing I want to tell you, I rarely put stuff on favourites, but this song's going there for sure :].

Keep up the awesomely great work, man!

PS. Just one question... I'm curious to know which program you use. :] This song's very well mastered.

PERVOK responds:

Well thank you for a very great review! I use Reason 3.0 exclusively now, man I love that program.

Thanks again man!

Good job

First of all... I want to apologize about my review on your song "Secret of the forest" where I gave the song 4 out of 10. It was a terrible mistake by me (I have no idea how it could happen), since I was going to vote 9 on it. Sorry, that song is really great!

Well, let's go onto this song. I like how the rest of the sounds are quite calming you while the drums are going crazy. It sounds good actually. I would ask for more bass only, otherwise the song is great!
The calm part in the middle of the song, with just guitars, gives me a somewhat oriental feeling, and for me it feels like that part is some kind of "charger" for an "explosion" later on in the song (haha didn't know how I should express myself :P)... but the "expolosion" never comes ôo.
What I'm trying to say is that I think you should put something new after the calm guitar part. Something unexpected maybe... changing rhythm or just the melody, and then make it go back to the normal beat and then end. That's what I think. Also you should add maybe 30 seconds of the normal beat before the calm part I think.
I hope my quite --> fuzzy <-- review helps you a bit (I just woke up ^^), and once more I apologize for my other review. This gets 7 out of 10, from me and a 4 out of 5. Good job :)!
